Giorgio Armani Foundation Review – Power Fabric & Luminous Silk

I don’t actually know how I was yet to try a Giorgio Armani foundation, age 25 and blogging for years… Luminous Silk has long been one of those cult blogger faves, yet I’d never got round to giving it a go. Even though I feel like I’ve got more foundations than I’d ever possibly need, I do seem to stick to the same old faithfuls. A couple of weeks ago I finally got my hands on both Luminous Silk and the new Power Fabric foundation, ready to put both to the test and see if Armani actually lived up to expectations! Here’s my verdict on both, and a bit of a comparison if you’re wanting to know what separates these two.

First up, Luminous Silk. If I’m honest, I don’t really ‘do’ this sort of foundation – I’m all about the matte life, but I can happily say I’m converted. While this isn’t overly dewy, it’s way glow-y than I’m used to, but I love that. It feels so fresh and light, really brightening up my complexion – hyper-pigmentation is something I struggle with, so I’m always happy to find something that’ll counteract that. For me, I’d wear this with a good swish of powder just to control my T-zone. I’m wearing it like that here, across my cheekbones and forehead (the shade I’ve got is a tad too light) and Power Fabric more on my jaw and around the edge of my face…

Okay, so onto Power Fabric.. Personally, the description of this is more up my street – long wear coverage with a luminous, lightweight finish. Long wearing foundation is what I’m always hunting down… Basically I just hope to find anything that will last a full day at work! Like Luminous Silk I’ve worn this on long days, and it’s definitely got impressive staying power. I’d say I’d need a touch up after hour 6, but for my skin that’s good going. I also think it fades naturally, leaving my face looking fresh, rather than gunked up in hours old, caked on makeup.

Again, it’s the finish that really works well for me with this foundation. I just love how it looks when applied – an almost powdery finish but still very natural. It still adds that glow to skin, yet looks super natural even when building up the coverage. It’s one I could wear during the daytime and evening, as it also works really well with other products (sometimes I find foundations go a little craaaazy once you stick powder over the top!). Overall, I’d say Power Fabric is more suited to me as I need something with extra staying power, but both I’ll use throughout the year – I’ll probably switch over to Luminous Silk in summer when my skin looks happier.

Another thing I will quickly mention is that brush – I love this for applying these foundations! It just seems so suited to them, and the shape is perfect for getting into fiddly areas around the eyes and nose. Yup, it’s an investment purchase, but I’ve been using it everyday since it arrived.

Armani Power Fabric and Luminous Silk are both available here.

I am also yet to try a Giorgio Armani foundation! I’ve been tempted to try the luminous silk for years due to the hype but I’m more of a full coverage kind of girl.. You may have persuaded me with the power fabric though!
