Back To Blogging Basics

COMPARISON CAUSES CONFUSION.

I had no idea what to write about today. No idea. I started posts, scrapped them, read some other blogs for inspo and then went round that circle for a while. Aaaand then I realised (slight light bulb moment) that it was the comparison part that was confusing me. Quickly, I’d clouded my brain with fretting about what I thought I should be doing, rather than doing what I actually wanted. I think one of the biggest set backs in blogging can be getting caught up in that comparison thing, when really, you’re more than okay doing your own thing.

WHAT DO I LIKE TO READ?

Thinking about what it is I like to see and read feels way more productive. Rather than thinking I need a blurry background and an editorial shot, I know that I’m actually more influenced by quick Instagram OOTDs, detail shots on Pinterest and relatable life stuff – gimme a Thought Catalog article I can get weepy over everyday of the week! There’s such a range of interests when it comes to blogging, so I can comfortably accept that I won’t be the only one thinking ‘actually, I prefer this kind of thing’.

DO YOU.

Foreverrrr. Do what suits you. This is inner me preaching to myself, while I’m feeling tough enough to not be too easily influenced by peer pressure. Right now, I know I love blogging way more when I’m doing what I enjoy seeing, reading and sharing. Most importantly though, I like it when it’s true to me. I’m Topshop, not high end. I’m quick pictures on an iPhone, not a shoot with a photographer. I’m not knowing what the fuck I’m doing with iMovie, rather than fancy cuts in Final Cut Pro. What I am right now may change, but I’d rather that be organic than something I’ve felt pressurised into. We can be all types of bloggers, and appreciate what one and other do equally.

AND THE OUTFIT BASICS

As I’m talking blogging basics, today’s post is simple – outfit snippets & details. That’s mainlyyy because I actually really like what I’m wearing. I picked the bodysuit up over the weekend for all the poor man’s Pammy vibes, but I love it all the same! ZARA have them in at the minute for £7.99 (I think) so I got this and the black version. I’m wearing this one with my old Levi’s and a little bit of gingham – Primark had loads of these cute neckerchiefs in the other day! I did the usually pick up 1,000 accessories and then wonder why I’ve spent £60 trick.

So yeah, my weekend look (in-between not getting out of pyjamas while watching Thirteen Reasons Why) was all a bit Pammy meets air hostess… A bodysuit and jeans is my faaavourite right now though.

I absolutely love this!! I have felt so pressured this week, feeling like I don’t have anything to blog about. And then I end up not blogging entirely, because I’ve got myself into a horrible mindset.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts in this – it’s so refreshing 🙂

    You look killer as always!
And totally get your thoughts. It’s so easy to get swept up in comparison and ‘keeping up’. You need to find your own groove. Yes there’s bloggers out there that have made/are making their money, but copy-acting wont mean you’ll make yours. The market is surely ready and should be ready for something new. So just do you. I know some people take the phrase ‘being relatable’ the wrong way and of course relatable may make you your millions, but when you get them your tastes may change and that’s totally down to and up to you.
    Just do you.
