‘Tis the season to update your wardrobe with a Spring jacket. I’ve banished all my weighty winter coats to the cupboard of doom, hoping that’s the last I’ll see of them until at least October! Instead I’m looking forward to lighter options, with blazers being my absolute favourite. Monday-Thursday in the office means they’re always something I can justify as I know I’ll get plenty of wear out of them.
It’s been a while since I’ve had a real classic jacket though… I love trend lead pieces, but it’s always nice to have the odd ‘special’ item that’ll last you the season and beyond. I picked out this one from House of Fraser after looking for a neutral jacket to wear with jeans. It’s by Mint Velvet, a brand I’m new to, but completely sold on. I’ve tried it with denim and love it, but the matchy-matchy magpie within me had to go get the trousers to go with. That’s another reason I love blazer jackets like this – you can go for the full suit, or wear as separates.
Below I’ve popped a few of my favourites, with the ‘Blossom’ colour version of the one I’m wearing here top of my list… Isn’t it the perfect colour for Spring?! I’d love it with light wash denim.
The red number comes a close second, for different reasons – it’s more a statement piece, but I know it’d be the kind of thing I’d reach for when I had no idea what to wear. If I can find a jacket that’ll make any old outfit look fashionable, then I’m happy.
House of Fraser have some suuuper lovely pieces in their Coats and Jackets range right now. I’ve been really impressed with Mint Velvet’s quality and fit (trousers like this normally neverrrr fit me comfortably, but the pair I’m wearing are just right!), so I’m thinking of investing in a couple more of their styles ready for Spring.
